Kadriorg Park in Tallinn, Estonia

When in Tallinn and you are looking for some quiet time and green scenery? Head over to Kadriorg Park or Kadrioru Park. Take Tram 1 (Kopli - Kadriorg) or Tram 3 (Tondi - Kadriorg) at the corner of Viru Square on Mere Puiestee street. This is at the edge of the old town. It is approximately 2 kilometres from Tallinn Old Town. I paid my fare directly with the tram driver. You get off just when the tram takes a turn and stops at the park.

When in doubt, ask the driver or a local (hopefully who speaks English!)

I had tourist company going to Kadriorg, two matured quite chatty American ladies and a retired Asian couple.

Kadriorg Park

Kadriorg in Estonian means Catherine’s Valley from Catherine of Prussia (Catherine the Great, Catherine II, Yekaterina Alexeevna). The park is 70 hectares in total and is the biggest urban park in the country.

The Presidential Palace of the President of Estonia is located beside the park, however, my business is not here. I am going to the adjacent Kadriorg Palace and Gardens and a nice little walk in the park under the late spring sunshine is very much welcome as well.

A statue of Friedrich Reinhold Kreutzwald, an Estonian writer considered to be the father of national literature of the country.

The Mikkel Museum displays western art and ceramics, and Chinese porcelain.

The Russalka Memorial commemorating the loss of a Russian ship (1893) as seen from the park.

The sun is out and so is everyone. A lovely May day.

Having some green space and breathing some fresh air while travelling are always nice treats.

Here is the map and route:
