Cephallonia | Kefalonia (Greece): Breath-taking Antisamos Beach for the Second Time

For this particular day’s outing in Cephallonia Island (Kefalonia), Dutchman and I were eyeing on Poros, and spending a nice and lazy afternoon on the beach here, and perhaps finishing the day off with a lovely evening dinner in the village square that is facing the beach. Sounds romantic, huh.

However, inasmuch as we would love to stay here at Poros longer, the beach town did not really tickle much our fancy. Helaas. So we made the decision to move on and ride further to our favourite beach in this Kefalonian summer holiday. The breath-taking Antisamos Beach in Sami.

This is our scooter route for the day:



Our base for the beach summer holiday is Moussata, then we scootered off to Poros beach town, afterwards we took the road to Sami, and then up to Antisamos.

As you can see, it is quite a long ride but nothing deters us when it comes to having a good beach afternoon. That is lounging in none other than our favourite beach, Antisamos Beach. It is just too bad that this stunning beach is quite far from Moussata where we were staying for the holiday. Well I guess, this gives us a good reason to try many other beautiful beaches in the island as well, so it is all good =)

The Antisamos Beach is a hidden beach bay in Sami.


The sunbeds and parasols here are free as long as you buy food and drinks from the beach bars. Good deal I should say, and good for you to know as well, so come on down here =)


SUP: Stand Up Paddling is a new beach sport craze but this guy looks like he is hoping to start a new sub trend -- KDP: Knee Down Paddling =)


Our favourite summer Greek afternoon snacks: Greek Yoghurt + Honey and Greek Salad. Always refreshing and quite healthy so to speak.


Because Antisamos is hidden from the strong currents of the sea, the bay beach always has calm waters on its beach shore, making the beach a great place to swim. It is a pebbly beach though so having the proper beach footwear is important. 


Dutchman and I normally stay on the beach until 20:00. We would be one of the last few left. Afterwards we hop on our scooter and look for a place to eat dinner. This means that when we go out, I usually wear my swimwear under or I bring an extra dress for the evening's dinner.

Bangkok, Thailand: The Story Behind the Impressive Serpent Statue at Suvarnabhumi Bangkok International Airport

If you fly out from the new Bangkok ‘Suvarnabhumi’ International Airport, the huge, colourful and impressive mythical statue popular in Thai and Indian culture, the 3-headed serpent Naga (his name Vasuki) in a spectacular tug-of-war scene with its mid-section body wrapped around a stone, which is actually a mountain, and Vishnu one of the supreme deities in Hindu is sitting on top, will greet you as you finish immigration and step inside the airport’s duty free shopping area. You just have to stop and be dazzled by it. The whole installation is impressive and as I took pictures I wondered what the story is behind this scene. After much googling around, I found out that the statue is very famous in Hindu culture and religion. This legendary scene is called ‘Samudra Manthan’ in other words in English – the ‘Churning of the Ocean of Milk’.
