Greece: Navigating the Hilly Back Streets of Parga

So I took gazillions of pictures of Parga when Dutchman and I visited this seaside resort on the western coast of mainland Greece last year. We came with the boat from Corfu Island.

I took lots of pictures of the waterfront boulevard with the colourful houses and the super busy Krioneri Beach. Then I went up to the castle ruins to catch a panoramic view of the seaside resort and what else, took more countless photos. Whilst meandering the narrow and hilly back streets of Parga which are bursting with shops, tavernas and more shops and tavernas, I made sure as well to document these with pictures.

Taking massive amounts of pictures has become a habit of mine when I am holidaying, discovering a new place and experiencing new stuff. It has become an auto pilot thing that I have truly and really learned to love. I am glad I have this blog to post my pictures and share to everyone. I really am.

Anyhow, I love summer holidays and Greece has taken our hearts. Dutchman and I cannot wait to be back soon.

 

Tavernas on every corner.


The hilly back streets of Parga is a shopping paradise. I did not get to buy anything here, although I saw this bikini pair that I wanted to try back on but did not have the time because the boat is calling us back on board.

If you follow the street going up to the castle ruins, you will catch a few tavernas with lovely views to the waterfront and bay.


Drying laundry this way is luxury in northern Europe. We all wish.


The hilly and back streets of Parga are filled with these tavernas with outdoor terrace that have stunning views of the Ionian Sea. If you are on a day trip here make sure you check them out.

My friend Bubbles, whom I was travelling with in the Balkans, had a request that we stop over at Medjugorje. Bangkok, Thailand: The Story Behind the Impressive Serpent Statue at Suvarnabhumi Bangkok International Airport

If you fly out from the new Bangkok ‘Suvarnabhumi’ International Airport, the huge, colourful and impressive mythical statue popular in Thai and Indian culture, the 3-headed serpent Naga (his name Vasuki) in a spectacular tug-of-war scene with its mid-section body wrapped around a stone, which is actually a mountain, and Vishnu one of the supreme deities in Hindu is sitting on top, will greet you as you finish immigration and step inside the airport’s duty free shopping area. You just have to stop and be dazzled by it. The whole installation is impressive and as I took pictures I wondered what the story is behind this scene. After much googling around, I found out that the statue is very famous in Hindu culture and religion. This legendary scene is called ‘Samudra Manthan’ in other words in English – the ‘Churning of the Ocean of Milk’.
