Lunching at Beautiful and Classic Restaurant in Brussels: Belga Queen

If you are like me who’s always looking for some nice ambiance (and great views as well) restaurants to dine, then you will for sure love the swanky Belga Queen restaurant in Brussels. Last month when Miss Luster was visiting me in town, we spent a day traipsing and gastronome munching in Brussels. Think gourmet chocolate, culinary beer, fresh oysters, hot waffles and more. Our late lunch was enjoyed at the famous Belga Queen. The food, the interior, the experience and the visit did not disappoint!

A concept restaurant, club, oyster bar and brasserie designed by Portuguese architect, Antoine Pinto. The Belga Queen Brussels is housed in an 18th century building that is formerly a hotel and a bank. I love what Antoine Pinto has done to the interior; classic-period design, royale setting and stylish ambiance which is quite different from his design at the Ghent branch of Belga Queen.

The crowd here is older, classy and somewhat discriminating, it reminds me of the Harbour Club Amsterdam. I read that lots of well-known local Belgians come here for a nibble or to hang out.

Now Miss Luster and moi were not planning to stuff ourselves with lots of food for lunch so we only ordered starters. We came here anyway to enjoy the lovely atmosphere and we plan to have some hearty Belgian waffle dessert outside on the streets. That is the best way to eat a Belgian waffle by the way. Munching on it on the streets =)

So we ordered fish. Salmon and scallops!

Salmon slices with little pancakes. In Eastern Europe they call the little pancakes 'blinis' but in the Netherlands we call them 'poffertjes'.... although in the Netherlands we do not eat them as part of a meal, we eat them as a snack, with lots of butter and powdered sugar.

Huge seared scallops and seaweeds in creamy sauce. This is delectable.

The warm bread and butter were both very, very good. Restaurants who serve warm bread always have a great first impression to me.

Belga Queen Trademark: See-through Toilets

All toilets at Belga Queen, in Brussels and Ghent are see-through. But the trick here is, when you are inside the toilet stall and when you lock the door, the toilet is not see-through anymore. Still, these toilets scares first-time visitors to the restaurant, haha.

So here is my review rating: 4.2 stars our of 5.

The Belga Queen Brussels is located on the Wolvengracht near the Muntplein / Place de la Monnaie.
