An Autumn Meeting in Brussels, Belgium

An old colleague from my Makati, Manila working girl days visited me last year. Miss Luster who lives in Dubai had some work-related trip in Cologne, Germany. She wants to visit Belgium before proceeding to the Netherlands so we rendezvoused in the European capital, Brussels. I cannot remember anymore how many times I have been to this metropolitan city.

See below a photo essay about our morning together in Brussels. For lunch we spent it at the posh Belga Queen restaurant. I will post another entry later about our afternoon jaunt in the city =). You know, I cannot help it. I took so many pictures!

Beenhouwerstraat | Rue des Bouchers is a busy, lively and colourful street filled with restaurants with outdoor terraces. I had mussels lunch here at Le Bourgeois Restaurant 4 years ago and 9 years ago as well (at a different restaurant).

My friend Bubbles, whom I was travelling with in the Balkans, had a request that we stop over at Medjugorje. We got lucky because Medjugorje was on the way to Dubrovnik, Croatia, which is our next stop. Half an hour into our driving, we reached Medjugorje. Parking was not easy to find, but we struck lucky and found a space not too far away from the Saint James Church. Bangkok, Thailand: The Story Behind the Impressive Serpent Statue at Suvarnabhumi Bangkok International Airport

If you fly out from the new Bangkok ‘Suvarnabhumi’ International Airport, the huge, colourful and impressive mythical statue popular in Thai and Indian culture, the 3-headed serpent Naga (his name Vasuki) in a spectacular tug-of-war scene with its mid-section body wrapped around a stone, which is actually a mountain, and Vishnu one of the supreme deities in Hindu is sitting on top, will greet you as you finish immigration and step inside the airport’s duty free shopping area. You just have to stop and be dazzled by it. The whole installation is impressive and as I took pictures I wondered what the story is behind this scene. After much googling around, I found out that the statue is very famous in Hindu culture and religion. This legendary scene is called ‘Samudra Manthan’ in other words in English – the ‘Churning of the Ocean of Milk’.
